The double-sided cards are a smart touch—my kid flipped them over all by herself to try the four-letter words next. The wooden tiles feel sturdy and slide into the slots easily, so she can focus on matching letters without frustration.
My nephew is only three and a half, but he figured out the sliding card mechanism on his own within minutes, and the double-sided tiles keep him engaged way longer than I expected for a toy at this level. It's sturdy wood too, so I don't worry when he drops it mid-mission.
