My daughter figured out on day one that each piece has a matching picture underneath, so she can self-check without me hovering. The sound only plays when the piece is placed correctly, which turned it into a game instead of just a toy. Eight animals is plenty for her attention span right now.
The animal sounds are the real winner here — my son now matches each piece to the right spot just to hear the lion roar again. The full-color pictures underneath help him figure out where things go when he gets stuck. Kept him busy for a solid 30 minutes, which never happens.
